In New York City, Nick Cassidy (actor Sam Worthington) checks in an hotel under a false name. He heads on the top floor, climbs on the ledge and gets ready to suicide. Police arrives and isolate the area, however Nick refuses to talk with anyone except to negotiator Lydia Mercer (actress Elizabeth Banks). Lydia arrives at the hotel room and finds out that Nick is an ex-policeman who was arrested for stealing a $40-million diamond from businessman David Englander (actor Ed Harris). Nick claims innocence and pushes the police to re-investigate in the case. Actually Nick's hidden plan is distracting the policemen while his brother Joey (actor Jamie Bell) and Joey's girlfriend Angie (actress Genesis Rodriguez) break into Englander's upper floor jewelry vault in the building across the street to steal the diamond and prove Nick's innocence.
