Paul and Audrey Safranek are a married couple who live in Omaha. Paul (played by Matt Damon) is a good-natured occupational therapist whose wife dreams of having a bigger house. Upon meeting their friends Dave and Carol Johnson who have downsized into 5 inches height, they learned that downsizing would increase the value of their assets by a 100 folds and will also reduce human waste and thus save the planet. After agreeing to downsize, Audrey backs out in the last moment and Paul realises that his problems will be getting bigger as he got smaller.
